Rough Note: I will place my law within them

Thursday, August 9, 2018
Description:Jeremiah 31: 31-34 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD. I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer will they have need to teach their friends and relatives how to know the LORD. All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more. Matthew 16: 13-23 From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised. Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke him, "God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you." He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do."

Rough Note - Forgiveness and Sanctification

Sanctification only comes when I forgive and let go of my dislike of others. I must constantly forgive and constantly let’s go my heart hurt

Description:Keep first things first for God so loved the world. Catholicism is a love story. He gave us hearts to seek he made us to love him and to search for him. Suffered and died rose from the dead for us and he is called us to life on high and eternal life with him. We are in the midst of a love story if Wayne I do not understand this we understand nothing about the church. What the heck? It’s like marriage when you remove the lump do you have? Stay out of the Killzone which is a boxing term for the part where you’re punching at each other constantly. When all of the issues come up a portion contraception gay marriage stay out of that talk about love instead. Made with love. Nothing makes sense without it Nothing makes sense without it. Life is absolutely was out of gas. People who do not love them so see the value of life. The result was drawback to help valuable they are and how much he is their father, we have never said more people should love themselves we have never said less why they should love them selves Barbara Morgan Cathecost. To an atheist or agnostic, need to go home and ask God. Call me GIF he exists. It is about relationship it is about the heart of God this is what it’s all about. First things first. Two Two. Maybe with time. For this . We are so busy we don’t see the opportunities for a evangelization with every person around us. Friendship is basis of evangelization. Don’t be friends because you want something to happen, befriends because that person is a human being. Three. Only given two organizations that are actually concerned with keeping the church and alive. Find groups and actually care about our future. I am we need to give stuff away, for evangelizing like CDs books etc. Four. Don’t let fear get in the way or stop you. Supposedly is, as Jesus said to me KIS. Keep it simple stupid. Just invite. Rough Notes from July on Slavery

Description:Catechism 1788 Slavery - the more we do what we want the more we want. We fall into slavery to our passions: gluttony, sloth, lust, avarice, etc check out the 7 deadly sins Freedom: Christ says come to me and I will set you free (not sure exact quote. The more we open ourselves to what God asks of us, the happier we become. Faith and works get us to heaven. Corollates with slavery and freedom. Slavery is easy because we do or don’t do as we choose but the fruit is overweight, loss of relationships, a messy life/house/work, unfinished projects when due to sloth. Freedom isn’t free. Meditating on God’s Word establishes and retains relationships, makes us do what is before us every day and plan and execute what keeps on on the path to holiness. As Fat Dag says, Attendance Goals keep us on track and headed in the right direction. I always th o of when Becky started college and she was so frustrated trying to figure things out. She would go to the counselor who would always say vesicallt “figure it out”. Fair th and learning g God’s will are almost the same except instead of a Google search, you pray and a Bible or inspired reading and watch and listen and, yes, wait patiently for the answer that bears much fruit

Rough Notes from June: meditation on my faith, my family and our story

Description:That we offer them Jesus is mission is to establish the kingdom of God Jesus died to save us from our sins Why did Jesus live? To establish his kingdom. When people say We cath love have lost our treasures and our storythey love Jesus and I just don’t believe in church, they are saying they love the king but just don’t love his kingdom. Easy for him they love Jesus they just don’t love his body. They love the groom they just don’t love his wife the bride God has a plan, for the church and for them. So we may not love some of the people in the church but there are many many brothers and sisters and DC does it have a wire are intercessors and brothers I was just us. This truly CD that I’m listing to, religiousness spirituality, comes to me after a day of sorting through my mom and dad‘s and stuff once again, old recipes, many devotionals prayer cards and spiritual readings, old-school books, etc. This is my family this is my history this is my DNA. My church is the same-my family, my history do have my my DNA. Jesus told seven parables about the kingdom of God, in the second luminous mystery Jesus comes to preach on the kingdom of God and repenting because the kingdom of God is at hand. That means here at nine earth, our Family I like to meditate my final arrival in heaven, and finally meeting my ancestors. People I have not met but feel I would have a bond too. All Christians, and especially all Catholics, are my family. I have not met them all yet. Just like in family, there will be some who I do not identify with, there will be some who inspire me, there will be some who challenged me. But they are my family and part of the body of Christ. I love my family, even those who are difficult. And I am always grateful for that. I pray that this inspiration will stay with me and that I will be able to evangelize this thoughttwo friends who don’t think they need to go to church. So many people are lonely because they don’t know the plot or the story. Jesus came to earth to establish the kingdom he died so that we may have life with him in heaven. While we are alive we are members of the kingdom and that family, members of the body of Christ, members of the church which is the spouse of Christ. We are here to be in full communion with God in our lives here. The 10 Commandments, the Scriptures, and Jesus is life detail and outline what our mission and purpose in life is. We Catholics have lost our treasure and our story. Mission: learn the history and stories: the Aeneis - key story for the Romans plot, Aneus sent by King to establish A kingdom - Rome. His twins establish kingdom. Paul moves from Troy to Rome. Paul is the new Aneis. Peter and Paul are in every icon in Rome. Romulus and Remus are sons of Aneius, the founder of Rome. Peter and Paul, the new twins, sons of God, were sent by God to establish the new kingdom, he new Rome. Rome is the home of the Church, the story of Christ and his kingdom. Read Isiah 62: Zion

O Come O Come Emmanuel

EWTN's Father's Know Best featured Fr. John iccardo on Christians passing on the faith to their families and the world. The Jewish tradition for Hanukkah of asking the question "Why is this night different from all other nights?" starts the celebration and passing on of God's deliverance of the Jews from 400+ years of slavery and that the Ten Commandments were given to keep us from the slavery of sin. Fr. John leads us to our __________ to pass on our faith - that Jesus died on the cross once and all to deliver us from slavery to sin so that we may have eternal life, peace and joy with him.

Fr. went on to talk about the special need for our fathers to have a personal relationship with God and to be the leaders of their families. I know for a fact that the example of the father determines most strongly the way that the children will go. A study showed that when fathers alone took their children to church there was a 66% chance of the children continuing to attend mass, more so than the 40% chance if mothers alone take their children to mass.

I left my phone at home by mistake this morning, and decided to sit in my car outside of church so I could hear father's talk. He gave 9 action items that will strengthen our families if we do them regularly:
1. Never miss Sunday mass
2. Attend weekday mass - with your children
3. Pray - before meals, morning and at bedtime (on your knees) Children seeing you pray gives an everlasting impression.
4. Read scripture with the family at night and before mass.
5. After mass, talk about the readings.
6. Go with your family to praise and worship.
7. Have your house blessed.
8. ?
9, ?

I then walked with Laurie and we discussed what we did yesterday and how we slept last night.

Had to make a decision whether to workout or go to Eucharist Adoration, chose spending time with the Lord. Quiet time with Jesus before I begin my day is such a treasure!

I always stop at Our Mother of Perpetual Help. When kneeling in front of her picture and the statue of Our Lady of Grace above, I feel her smiling at me, pointing me to her Son, and opening her hands offering many graces as she listens to my prayers for my loved ones and everyone I meet in the coming day.

I read today's readings out loud since no other person was there, and I was inspired to sing O
Come O Come Emmanuel (lucky to have the hymnals to read the words AND no one to hear my untrained, thick morning voice. Emmanuel is God With Us and what better prayer than to ask God to be with us this day, in the muck and mire of our daily, very earthly, routines. The Word Among Us reading reminded me that God so loves me, and every person I know, that he who is God of the Universe became man to live With us, as One of us, and He knows and understands our every emotion, temptation, dilemma AND he wants to be with us and for us to lean on Him every step of the way.

It is a cold morning, 28 degrees, very dark because of clouds. As I reached our driveway and looked over the uncut cornfields across the street, stretching out to the West, there was a large opening in the clouds and Orion's belt and its surrounding stars twinkled at me. The distant city glow reflecting on the low lying clouds lit the western horizon, casting the trees's branches in sharp relief.

This is a rambling entry this morning, but the peace and joy of this quiet time with God remains in my heart.

I love you Jesus. O Come O Come Emmanuel, remain with us today. I love you Jesus!

Lord, help me to make time for your this Advent

We are all seeking the meaning of our lives.

"The days are coming" when God will visit his people (Jeremiah 33:14)

I bought "Brother John" by August Turak. It's a beautifully illustrated and thought provoking writing on "The Meaning of Life." Mr. Turak writes about his encounter with Brother John at the Mepkin Abbey. He details how at the end of a long day and evening, it began to rain and Mr. Turak was ready to run out into the rain to get to the next building. Instead, Brother John was standing under an umbrella ready to escort him to his building. This was the capstone moment in his observations of
Brother John, who he descried as the Abbey's foreman with oversight of the several thousand acres  of buildings, machinery, and a farm with 40,000 chickens. He is always shorthanded and constantly jumps in as some critical spot.  He "lights up" when he sees Mr. Turak and humbly thanks him for helping out with the eggs. Mr. Turak is amazed by his "humility, Irish good humor and gentleness that "never fades or even frays."

Mr. Turak "Of course my obsession (with Brother John) had nothing to do with the fact that he was a monk and I was not. On the contrary, Brother John was fascinating precisely because I intuited that to live as he did, to have his quiet peace and effortless love, had nothing to do with being a monk an d was available to us all.

But Brother John was also terrible because he was living, breathing witness to my own inadequacies. Like Alkibiades in Plato's Symposium, speaking of the effect Socrates had on him, I had only to picture Brother John under his umbrella to feel as if "life is not worth living the way I live it." I was terrified that if I ever did decide to follow the example of Brother John, I would either fail completely or, at best, be faced with a life of unremitting effort without Brother John's obvious compensations. I imagined dedicating my life to others, to self-transcendence, without ever finding that inner spark of eternity that so obviously made Brother John's life the easiest and most natural life I had ever known. Perhaps his peace and effortless love were not available to all, but only to some. Perhaps I just didn't have what it takes.

We are all seeking the meaning of our lives. Mr. Turak writes of his discussion with Father Christian at the abbey about Brother John and Fr. Christian calls him a saint. He then goes on to tell of a protestant minister friend who was leaving his ministry and Father later learned from the minister's wife that the minister was having an affair. Fr Christian said, "You know, you can call it original sin; you can call it any darn thing you want to, for that matter, but, deep down inside, every one of us knows something's twisted. Acknowledging that fact, refusing to run away from it, and deciding to deal with it is the beginning of the only authentic life there is. All evil begins with a lie. The biggest evil comes from the biggest lies, and the biggest lies are the ones we tell ourselves. And we lie to ourselves because we're afraid to take ourselves on."

Fr. Christian gave the following quote from Pascal to Mr. Turak: "You would not seek Me if you had not already found Me, and you would not have found Me if I had not first found you."

"We must commit to facing our doubts, limitations, and self-contradictions head-on, while holding onto this voice of eternity."  This eternal voice is urging us to take a chance on an unknown outcome in much the same way that nature's voice urged a friend to take a chance on a new life. The friend had continued to refuse having children because he would lose his freedom and money. He finally said yes and entered an entirely rewarding world of love beyond imagination. "We must fight distraction, futility, rationalization, and fatigue at every step." "We must resolve to act decisively, while trusting in the aid of something we don 't understand and can never predict. We must open ourselves up to the miraculous, to grace."

"Working toward this miraculous transformation, rebirth, or inner alchemy is the true purpose of life. This transformation is what the West calls "conversion" and the East "enlightenment," and is the fruit of our commitment to the authentically purposeful life that Father Christian described so well. It is the transformation that turns work into effortless privilege, makes the unnatural values of Brother John second nature, and proves that the answer to the monks' last prayer each night at Compline for a "restful night and a peaceful death" is eternally ours. And when we're ready Brother John will be waiting for us, eager to share this miraculous umbrella. Like him, we will be utterly grateful for who we have become, remorseful for who we were, and compassionate towards those who do not understand."

"Make someone happy, once you have found her, you will be happy too." Sung by Jimmy Durante as I write this.

Prayer after communion for today's mass:
May these mysteries, O Lord,
in which we have participated,
profit us, we pray,
for even now, as we walk amid passing things,
you teach us by them to love the things of heave
and hold fast to what endures
Through Christ our Lord. AMEN

Being in love with God in the following words:

More I See You
Each time I look at you is like the first time
Each time you're near me the thrill is new
And there is nothing that I wouldn't do for
The rare delight of the sight of you for
The more I see you, the more I want you
Somehow this feeling just grows and grows
With every sigh I become more mad about you
More lost without you and so it goes
Can you imagine how much I love you?
The more I see you as years go by
I know the only one for me can only be you
My arms won't free you, my heart won't try
I know the only one for me can only be you
My arms won't free you, my heart won't try
Songwriters: Mack Gordon / Harry Warren
